Mens 3rds vs Carlisle 2

In a challenging match at Longhirst Hall, Morpeth Mens 3 faced Carlisle Men’s 2, boasting a depleted squad due to regulars being called up to the second team. Despite this, Morpeth showcased a strong start, employing a counter-attack strategy with 2 Gk Marc and Andrew testing their outfield skills playing upfront. Captain Yuri secured the lead with a goal, showcasing the juniors readiness for the challenge.

The first half displayed robust defense from Dean, Martin and Sam allowing Morpeth to maintain their lead.

However, in the second half, Carlisle intensified their pressure and managed to equalise after ten minutes with a remarkable shot that left goalkeeper Liam with little chance of ever saving and some say it went through his legs but this is up to speculation..

Morpeth responded swiftly, with midfielder Chris scoring an impressive goal. The match reached a tense standoff, complicated by the sun and a questionable pitch. Ultimately, Carlisle secured a late equaliser, resulting in a hard-fought draw.

Despite not clinching the full 3 points, Morpeth's resilience against the second placed team in the league showcased their tremendous heart and determination
