Morpeth 3s arrived at Westgate Road with hopes high of continuing their recent strong form. They travelled with a strong, experienced squad who were keen to maintain their title charge. The message was clear from captain Gallivan. No chops, no chatting back, no cards. After 5 minutes, Gallivan was given a green card.
Morpeth started the game well putting Newcastle medics under pressure. The pressure paid off with O’Halloran playing a ball down the line to E.Laude who was able to find Oakton who followed in the footsteps of his idol Marc Stewart to lob the ball into the goal. 0-1 Morpeth.
The medics then started to push for a goal of their own. They quickly scored 3 without reply. Two from open play and one flick (not sure what happened unfortunately for the flick).
Morpeth went into halftime 1-3 down. The team had encouraging words from captain Gallivan and they started the second half strong. The team penned the medics into their D in search for goals. One goal came from Gal,livan who scored an impressive goal from a short corner. This proved to be too little too late for Morpeth who couldn’t find the equaliser.
Match teas were then ate and results from other games mean that the title is still in Morpeth’s hands.
Despite E.Laude and M.Renwick eating their kitkats incorrectly and Gallivans card, O’Halloran was surprisingly voted DOD due to the exceptional skill of the opposition forward who sat him down on the floor after putting the ball through his legs. A.Laude was unanimously voted as MOM for his exceptional and energetic performance.
FT: Medics 3 - 2 Morpeth
