15 strong, brave and courageous green and gold warriors took to the field! We ask for the insight from the prophet Marc to which way to start, and he showed us to swap end - so the skipper won the toss and swapped ends! The first piece of tactical genius from the green and gold.
The whistle went and out came the blocks the mighty 3rds.
Not even 5 mins in and multiple attacks saw the ball’s agonisingly go wide twice, then then break through. Stu Hamilton got the ball passed to Maximum Renwick and he slotted the ball home nicely 1-0. Then from the restart the Gateshead team lost the ball, the ball was around nicely from left to right back to the left and again back to the right where the ball came to the skipper to pick Stu for a pinpoint shot on goal 2-0! The passing of the ball from Morpeth was like watching the ballet 🩰 so elegant, clean and direct where Stu once again got the ball crossed into the skipper to deflect into the goal 3-0! The ballet was turning into a massacre! The passage of play looking exquisite from Morpeth passing coming from midfield and the back line with great breaks coming through the Gateshead midfield. Max received the ball played it into the skipper where the skipper lifted it over the keeper into the roof of the net 4-0! Longhirst was Turing into Texas where this massacre kept on going another break through the engine room on cam and Yuri saw some great passing again where Yuri found the skipper took the ball on his reverse and one handed reverse sweeper it into the bottom right 5-0!
The juniors started to show off and bring their own little bit of magic to game. Evan beat a defended, brushed off one of the seasoned Gateshead defenders play the ball to Gal who then dribbled into the D to play to max to tap in and make it 6-0! Then from the restart Gateshead lost the ball passing happening throughout the team Stu making those powerful runs down the line going the height of the pitch and played it to Gal who then saw Max top of the D alone who made up for amends last week and struck powerfully into the bottom right of the goal 7-0!
Half time! We set out our objectives and we wanted double figures and a clean sheet, but the lack of interaction from Gateshead with the Morpeth keeper Marc - he saw an opportunity from watching the entire game where we need to keep pressing and pressure the Gateshead team.
2nd half saw Cam break though after winning the ball again and again in midfield slip the ball to Gal and again went in the reverse for a one handed reverse shotnand score 8-0!
Max was pressuring the defence the midfield kept winning the ball Evan, Cory, Stu and Yuri kept driving into the Gateshead D and once again Max got the ball and another goal 9-0!
Then the skipper win a series of bad tackles heated exchanges saw the Morpeth complacent for 10 mins which then turned into a series of short corners. Up steps the skipper drag flick top of the goal above the keeper 10-0!
Max was not going to be out done! With a few minutes left max revived the ball from Stu after another great run to shot from the right side of the D to powerfully hit the ball at maximum Renwick into the bottom left of the goal - a fine strike, where the Gateshead defended questions if it was in the the D where max had to show him the crater of where his stick hit the floor, never question max when on this form and now 11-0!
A great result where the strikers scored the goals which was a result of great team play from defence to midfield and some exquisite passing from the entire team, we only scored 11 because of this and everyone should be proud of today.
