Morpeth 3rds travelled to Sunny Jesmond for this early morning fixture. With no game last weekend they were looking to pick up some vital points away from home.
The first 10 minutes of the game were closely contested with both teams trying to gain control of the midfield. Jesmond were proving a difficult team to break down, but Morpeth kept at it, trying to create some chances.
Morpeth got their first short corner of the game, which produced the opening goal of the game. A fine injection from Robin Page, allowed Max Renwick to crash the ball home.
The score remained 1-0 to Morpeth at half time.
For some unknown reason, Morpeth sat deep in the second half, inviting pressure onto themselves, a habit they need to remove from their game. Richard Whittle, making his debut, made some fine tackles and lead the defence of Morpeth's back line.
Jesmond probed for a goal, but Morpeth held strong to claim a fine well contested game.
