The 3s travelled down to Hexham full of spirit to face Tynedale 2s, after a high scoring start to the season looking to keep this run of form going.
A quick team talk at the start saw a new formation being played for the first time to continue the high attacking way we play best.
After some questionable noises coming from the opposition it didn’t take long to start as we wanted, after a well won short corner was brilliantly volleyed home by the captain Yuri after a well timed pass from Andy. The perfect start and what we had planned to do from the start. Moments later Edwin made a great run down the right wing to cut back to Andy who converted in style to put Morpeth 2 up within 10 minutes. After some great pressure exerted from this new style of play, a loose ball was intercepted by Robin and played through to Andy who converted with great composure. This new found attacking way of play kept the pressure high and led to the debutant David being greatly rewarded for his great start to senior mens hockey.
Half time fell upon us 4-0, spirits were high and a well said team talk by Yuri talked about fast passing and keeping our heads up with the ball, Yuri then proceeded to display greatly how not to do this to help teach our younger side…
Our great run of play dropped off however with some miss timed substitutions and miss placed passes saw us still at 4-0 for most of the second half. After a few questionable decisions by the umpires, and being helf back by an overly physical young Tyneside team, a sudden increase of form near the lateral stages of the game saw Olivier's well timed shot saved by the goalkeeper falling straight to Max who couldn’t miss.
We proceeded to see the game out with composure with the final score being Morpeth 5 - 0 Tynedale. A great result with plenty for goals, a clean sheet and a stellar debut performance from David.
MoM- David
DoD- Edwin
